The Journey to Homes Surrounded by Rolling Hills | Sungai Choh, Rawang

 sungai choh | RAWANG

THE ASSIGNMENT |

I had been given the task to have a look at a new development supposedly near an NSK, in Rawang. Unfortunately, nobody knows of my visit. I would be just a nosy person, tire-kicking, turning the steering wheel...  as if I am a F! Drive... but not buying anything!

Photo above: I wish I had one of these, to ride around...

A  cosy little place, located between Serendah and Rawang, called Sungai Choh has lately been attracting attention as a destination for affordable homes in the Klang Valley. One contributing factor is the new Rawang-Serendah Bypass that cuts the journey from near 45 minutes to a mere 10 minutes; and the view one gets while driving on the elevated bypass is just  breathtaking, with lush green hill forests, on one side and Rawang town down below, tucked in  the valley, on the opposite side!

So, on the  first Monday during MCO early this year, I armed myself with a cross town permit and started the journey from World Trade Centre (formerly PWTC) at Jalan Tun Ismail  to Sungai Choh. A short drive towards Selayang on Jalan Kuching quickly turned  into a crawl towards a police/army roadblock. A fast read of my papers, and a quick glance  at my greying hair, the police officer nodded and waved, to drive-on.

Apart from some road works, I travelled without any further delay. Using the Serendah-Rawang  Bypass, and a bit later I had exited the Bypass road and saw a road sign with the words 'Sungai Choh'. Up-to now, I have travelled for about 25 minutes...  and  had this strange feeling that I had not left KL at all, although I was now in Sungai Choh, Selangor!

Photo: The Rawang Bypass that cuts the journey time  from KL to  Alamanda Parkland homes by half. The bypass itself is a gem being the highest elevated motorway in Malaysia  reaching  a staggering 58 meters (about 190feet) above ground and a total length of 10 kilometres (6.6 miles)

I drove slowly, glancing at the Google maps direction every few moments while enjoying the calm and vast view of the countryside with rolling hills in the distance, without any obstruction from skyscrapers!

I knew I was getting nearer... from my  Google map of course! Then out of a sudden, the road turned into 2 lanes... on each side and on the left of my car I saw an even bigger expanse of space that was under construction, and construction is what  they were doing on a land that extended up-to the foothills probably 4 to 5 KM away! This was a massive piece of land that I roughly guessed anywhere between 60 to 80 acres (I'm not that good in gauging sizes, hence the big margin of 30 acres!)

Right across the road from the development site is the PERODUA Malaysia car manufacturing plant, an aerospace facility UMW Aerospace and more vast open spaces that pleases the eyes!

Anyway, the offices of the developer is  just along the main road/PERODUA entrance, and  with ample parking space. As I got our of my car, towards the east of the site, in the distance is a cropping of mountains along the horizon with some sort of complex on the mountain top. I stopped, sunlight streaking through the clouds giving the complex an almost silver-like coating... and  that's when I realised that I was looking at the famous Genting Highlands!

Photo : breathtaking view of the dolomite hill at the nearby Templar Park.  Something you get to see every time you are driving to and from KL!

Right! I have arrived at the  Alamanda Parkland homes! Heading into the sales gallery cum office to have a look around ... and for the complimentary drink that us tire-kickers will always help ourselves to!

WRAP-UP |

Probably one of the most scenic ride I've every had just to visit a site! By the way, nearby to the traffic lights that you'd turn to get to the site, the wafting and delicious smell of 'satay' fills the air... coming from a roadside satay stall! I'd just go again for the sake of a satay meal!!!

POST NOTE: Couple of weeks after the visit, I was informed that The REED Education Group (a Canadian International Programme) has opened a branch in Sungai Choh, Rawang
